Tiger Cage International Lobbycard Set

‘Ip Man’ star Donnie Yen made his film debut when he starred in the kung fu comedy ‘Drunken Tai Chi’, and audiences saw him in his first modern day actioner when he was cast by his mentor Yuen Woo-ping in ‘Tiger Cage’.

Though the name star of ‘Tiger Cage’ was singing star Jacky Cheung, Yen stole the scenes he was in, pioneering a new form of hyped up movie kickboxing. He punched like Sugar Ray, danced like Ali and kicked like Bruce Lee. Donnie’s style and charisma actually found him a more ardent following overseas, before he finally broke the Hong Kong market with ‘Ip Man’.

A tough cop thriller, ‘Tiger Cage’ stars genre veterans Simon Yam and Leung Kar-yan, alongside various members of the Yuen clan as well as long-time Donnie cohorts Stephan Berwick and Michael Woods. Yen’s showdown with these last two is set in the Portugese enclave of Macau, and one of the standout sequences of the movie.
