The Invincible Eight International Lobbycards

Before Michelle Yeoh, before Zhang Ziyi, there was one queen of kung fu cinema: Angela Mao! Reel East are proud to celebrate the legacy of filmdom’s most lethal female with The Angela Mao Collection.

‘The Invincible Eight’ was Golden Harvest’s take on ‘Seven Samurai’, with Angela Mao cast as one of an octet of heroic swordsmen and women. Her fellow warriors include Bruce Lee’s leading lady, Nora Miao, and his regular co-star James Tien.

The film was shot on location in Angela Mao’s native Taiwan and on the stages of the then newly formed Golden Harvest studios. Its director, Lo Wei, had huge success with the two films he made with Bruce Lee, and would later discover Jackie Chan.

‘The Invincible Eight’ was choreographed by ‘The Big Boss’ bad guy Han Ying-chieh and legendary action director Sammo Hung, both of whom also appear in the movie.

Reel East is proud to share these rare international lobbycards, printed by Golden Harvest for the worldwide distribution of the film in the first global boom in kung fu cinema. These 10 cards come with the original envelope used by Golden Harvest.
