The Fate of Lee Khan Promo Photo Set

Before Michelle Yeoh, before Zhang Ziyi, there was one queen of kung fu cinema: Angela Mao! Reel East are proud to celebrate the legacy of filmdom’s most lethal female with The Angela Mao Collection.

In 1973, the greatest director in the history of Hong Kong cinema came to work at Golden Harvest studios. King Hu had made his name at Shaw Brothers with the classic ‘Come Drink With Me’, but had left that studio shortly thereafter. The Taiwanese maestro began production on ‘The Fate of Lee Khan’, a masterwork on a whole other level from the other movies the studio was making at the time. King Hu hired many of the same actors who had worked on the Bruce Lee movies, including his Taiwanese countrywoman, the reigning queen of kung fu, Angela Mao Ying. The director was teamed with the studio’s leading action choreographer, Sammo Hung.

Reel East is proud to celebrate this extraordinary epic of the jade screen by making this set of 12 promotional black and white photos available. These 10 X 8  pictures were sent to local newspapers and magazines to promote the original theatrical release of the film. (The photos are sent in the original package that photo editors would receive in 1973.)
