Former kung fu star Leung Kar-yan did double duty in front of and behind the camera in a Hong Kong remake of the Charles Bronson classic ‘Death Wish’. ‘Profile in Anger’ turned out to be one of the darkest genre thrillers in the history of Chinese cinema. Local audiences were horrified, but the film later became a worldwide cult classic. This contemporary action drama also found roles for genre icons Michael Chan Wai-man, Damian Lau and Philip Ko. Leung Kar-yan, nicknamed ‘Beardy’ by fans, also co-wrote and choreographed the film, and its failure ended his career at Golden Harvest. He moved to Shaw Brothers to continue his acting career,
