Former child star Tsui Siu-ming hit the height of his game as director with the action epic ‘Bury Me High’. Tsui wrote, directed, produced and choreographed the film, and played a supporting role. The film stars former stuntman Chin Kar-lok paired with battling babe Moon Lee on a quest to locate or stop or something related to feng shui. Their journey takes them to a remote kingdom, where they clash with the forces of an evil general, played by veteran actor/stuntman Yuen Wah.
The film is inspired by author Ni Kuang’s character Wisely, a popular creation seen in various other Hong Kong productions, where he was played by Chin Siu-ho (Kar-lok’s brother), Sam Hui and, more recently, Jet Li. DP Peter Pau, later an Oscar winner for ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’, brings his luminous lens to this ambitious project.
The scale and style of the film earned ‘Bury Me High’ a worldwide fan following, with its action set pieces set in impressive locales.
